We have come a long way
EARLY 1980s
Founded by Ed van Gilst, U.P.M. emerged as a pioneering force in PTFE compound production, leveraging its deep expertise and entrepreneurial spirit.
1980s-2003
The start of innovative production methods led to a rapid increase in business development, not only within the domestic market, but also across various European countries. The company’s success prompts expansion into intercontinental markets.
2003
Robert van Gilst, Ed van Gilst son, acquires U.P.M. from his father. The acquisition leads to a period of significant growth, due to expansions in both the portfolio and production capacity.
2013
U.P.M. takes a bold step by establishing a pressing department and entering into a joint venture with a production company of PTFE end products. This strategic move allows U.P.M. to offer a wide range of her products, from compounds to semifinished and finished items.
